This policy explains how Block Star Logic Ltd collects, uses and protects personal data when you visit blockstarlogic.xyz, submit an enquiry, or book a call with us.
1. Who is responsible for your data
Block Star Logic Ltd is the data controller. We are registered in Scotland under company number 857595, with our registered office at 5 South Charlotte Street, Edinburgh, Scotland, EH2 4AN. We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
2. What data we collect
- Enquiry data. When you use our enquiry form we collect your name, email address, optionally your company name, and the content of your message.
- Booking data. When you book a call, our scheduling provider collects your name, email address, the time you select, and anything you add to the booking notes.
- Technical data. Our hosting provider automatically logs technical information such as IP address, browser type, referring page and the pages you request. This is standard server logging used for security and reliability.
We do not ask for special category data, and we ask that you do not send us sensitive personal information through the enquiry form.
3. Why we use your data, and our lawful basis
- To respond to your enquiry and discuss potential work. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, namely responding to people who contact us about our services, and taking steps at your request before entering a contract.
- To provide services under a contract. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
- To keep the site secure and working. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, namely operating a safe and reliable website.
- To meet legal and accounting obligations. Lawful basis: compliance with a legal obligation.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract, including:
- our website hosting provider, which hosts this site and maintains server logs;
- our enquiry form provider, which receives your form submission and delivers it to our inbox;
- our scheduling provider, which manages call bookings; and
- our email provider, which stores our correspondence with you.
We may also disclose data where we are required to do so by law, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
5. International transfers
Some of our providers operate outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
6. How long we keep it
We keep enquiry correspondence for up to 24 months from our last contact with you, unless it becomes part of a client relationship, in which case we keep it for the duration of that relationship and for six years afterwards to meet legal and accounting requirements. Server logs are retained for a short period by our hosting provider.
7. How we protect it
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and a policy of collecting only the data we actually need. No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed completely secure, but we take these obligations seriously.
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- be informed about how we use your data;
- request a copy of the data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- request erasure of your data in certain circumstances;
- restrict or object to our processing, including processing based on legitimate interests;
- request portability of data you have provided to us; and
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
